Madagascar Wildlife Conservation (MWC)
MWC works in the Lake Alaotra region to protect biodiversity through scientific research, environmental education, sustainable resource use, and ecotourism. MWC protects the critically endangered Lake Alaotra Bamboo Lemur!
Association Mitsinjo
Mitsinjo was formed in 1999 by tour guides from Andasibe. It now has over 50 members and manages the Analamazaotra Forest Station (Mitsinjo Forest, including Madagascar’s first breeding facility for frogs), and co-manages Torotorofotsy. These reserves protect 14 lemur species, including diademed sifakas and indris!
Ny Tanintsika
Ny Tanintsika protects the Ambositra-Vondrozo Forest Corridor (COFAV) between Ranomafana and Andringitra National Parks in southeastern Madagascar. This area is home to 21 lemur species, including the golden bamboo lemur, black and white ruffed lemur, and Milne-Edwards sifaka!
Mikajy Natiora
Mikajy Natiora works in Sahamalaza Iles Radama National Park in northwest Madagascara. They protect the forest through supporting rangers, providing sustainable livelihoods, planting tree nurseries, and ecotourism. They protect blue-eyed black lemurs and the Sahamalaza sportive lemur!
Madagasikara Voakajy
Madagasikara Voakajy leads over 20 conservation projects across Madagascar. They establish protected areas, support communities, and build local capacity to protect the forest and its wildlife. They protect many wildlife species including baobabs, frogs, crowned lemurs, bamboo lemurs, and sportive lemurs!
Lemur Conservation Foundation
LCF is one of the primary sponsors of Marojejy National Park, which is among the largest and least disturbed rainforests in Madagascar. They recently rebuilt the cabins and cooking facilities at Marojejy to encourage more tourists, scientists, and local people to visit this beautiful park. LCF protects many species including Critically Endangered silky sifakas, indri, and red ruffed lemurs!
Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership (MBP)
MBP has four field stations in Madagascar: Montagnes des Francais, Kianjavato, Analamazaotra Special Reserve, and Lavavalo. They are very successful at working with communities on reforestation efforts. They protect many species including black and white ruffed lemurs, northern sportive lemurs, aye-ayes, and radiated tortoises!
GERP
GERP has worked to protect lemurs for 25 years, and was founded by Professor Jonah Ratsimbazafy. They manage the Maromizaha and Manombo forests, support local livelihoods, and help enforce local laws. GERP advocates for conservation with the Malagasy government and local authorities. GERP protects many lemur species including indris, diademed sifakas, and black-and-white ruffed lemurs!
IMPACT Madagascar
IMPACT Madagascar hires rangers to patrol threatened habitats and improve fire management. And, their new environmental education program provides the next generation with the skills and knowledge to protect their environment. IMPACT is known for their work translocating red ruffed lemurs to more protected areas!

Antrema Miray
Antrema Miray includes the local communities from 12 different associations. They work to preserve natural resources and cultural wealth and ensure the sustainable development of the Biocultural Site of Antrema. Antrema is home to critically endangered crowned sifakas!
Association Analasoa
Association Analasoa works in Tsimanampesotse National Park (TNP) in southwest Madagascar. Their work includes capacity building, scientific research, community support, and ecotourism. Tsimanampesotse is home to flamingos and ring-tailed lemurs!
Association FANAMBY
FANAMBY is a pioneer in promoting nature-based businesses for biodiversity conservation, such as tourism and high-value agriculture. Fanamby also restores forests and ensures patrols in protected areas. Fanamby protects the critically endangered Perrier’s sifakas and golden crowned sifakas!
Fikambanana Bongolava Maitso (FBM)
FBM reduces poverty in rural communities through income-generating activities. FBM also manages the Bongolava Forest Corridor Protected Area in western Madagascar. FBM protects Verreaux’s sifakas!
Asity Madagascar (Bird Life International)
Asity manages four New Protected Areas: Mahavavy Kinkony Complex, Mangoky Ihotry Complex, Tsitongambarika Forest, and Torotorofotsy. They conduct scientific research and engage in conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity in collaboration with communities. Asity protects a lot of wildlife, including Madagascar’s endemic bird species!
