ZOOS IN MADAGASCAR
These zoos educate the Malagasy public about lemurs and care for lemurs that were confiscated as pets.
Lemur Rescue Center and Reniala Reserve
The Reniala Reserve and Lemur Rescue Center rehabilitates ring-tailed lemurs from the illegal pet trade in southwest Madagascar. They protect the forests of the reserve and release many of the rehabilitated lemurs back into the reserve to live freely. And, they work with local communities to develop alternative livelihood projects.
Parc Ivoloina
As part of a 282-hectare forestry station including both environmental education and conservation training centers, Parc Ivoloina is of a 4-hectare zoological park operated by Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group.
Reniala SARL Park
The Reniala Sarl Park is tourist attraction in Madagascar developed on 29 hectares of land that includes a zoological and botanical park. The Reniala Sarl park is associated with the Société Industrielle du Boina (SIB), a company that makes laundry soap and refining oil. They periodically host experts from western zoos and organizations to work with the park’s primates.
