Volunteer in Madagascar with the Great Projects
The Great Projects offers an exclusive volunteer opportunity in La Mananara, just 3 hours from Antananarivo, focusing on wild lemur research. Each day, volunteers trek through a stunning area of primary forest that is home to 10 different lemur species.

Accommodations for Volunteers
The field station where volunteers are based features a lovely field house, and the highest standard of accommodation of any lemur research project in Madagascar — beautiful new chalets in the forest, each with a private en-suite bathroom.
Lemur Species You May Encounter
The Anjozorobe-Angavo protected area contains the following lemur species:
- Indri (Indri indri)
- Diademed sifaka (Propithecus diadema)
- Common brown lemur (Eulemur fulvus)
- Eastern bamboo lemur (Hapalemur griseus)
- Goodman’s mouse lemur (Microcebus lehilahytsara)
- Aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis)
- Eastern woolly lemur (Avahi laniger)
- Weasel sportive lemur (Lepilemur mustelinus)
- Crossley’s dwarf lemur (Cheirogaleus crossleyi)
- Sibree’s dwarf lemurs (Cheirogaleus sibreei)
