Lemurs at Akron Zoo
The Akron Zoo, an AZA-accredited zoo in Akron, Ohio, USA, currently houses
- 1.1 ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta),
- 0.4 red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra) and
- 0.2, black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata) in their Madagascar building.
Akron Zoo has over 350,000 visitors each year who learn about Madagascar and the conservation of lemurs at their exhibits.
Supporting Lemur Conservation
The Akron Zoo has been a long-time member and supporter of the Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group through the zoo’s annual Conservation Grant Fund.
